Struggling to fall pregnant? Many people might not think of Reflexology as a treatment for infertility, but there has already been a lot of success in helping couples with infertility problems to conceive through Reflexology treatments.
Denmark is at the forefront of these treatments for infertility and as many as one in four women will undergo Reflexology treatments to aid in infertility. It is also used by infertility clinics as an aid to increase the success of other treatments, eg. in vitro fertilization (IVF). A lot of the women being treated have unexplained fertility problems and the wonderful thing about Reflexology is that it looks at the women (and men for that matter) as a whole. Treatments aim to balance the whole body and well-being and not just the obvious symptoms.
Couples with infertility problems often have very high stress levels. Stress can deplete nutrients and also impact on the hormonal balance of the reproductive system. Reflexology not only reduces stress, but also helps the lymphatic system to rid the body of unwanted toxins and stimulates the body to make better use of the nutrients and oxygen to feed every cell in the body. Reflexology is done on couples and treatment is not necessarily reserved just for one of the partners.
Inge Dougans, the founder of the International Academy of Reflexology and Meridian Therapy in South Africa discovered for herself how Reflexology can help you overcome fertility problems. She was diagnosed with infertility due to blocked fallopian tubes and endometriosis. She reluctantly tried Reflexology and after only two treatments fell pregnant. She ended up having two sons and started the academy when they relocated to South Africa. Since then she and other Reflexologists have helped a lot of couples to experience the joy of having their own little baby.
Reflexology can be used on its own or in conjunction with other fertility treatments. It is not a quick fix, but allows the couple to take responsibility for their own health, make better diet and lifestyle choices and eventually it creates a healthier, happier person (and/or couple) who is more likely to conceive.
